BRAND IDENTITY • SHOWIT WEBSITE DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

the problem

We are a community liason that focuses on rebuilding our community through black-owned businesses. We have the basics but we’d like a consistent image. We would love to keep a gender neutral tone in theme, while keeping the focus on nonprofit and small business ownership.  In our current brand, we are drawn to the aspects involving community, roots, and culture. We are looking for a style that represents a campaign-like and empowering movement. Our biggest goals are to increase donations and attracts volunteers. We are lacking consistency in our branding and website design and want to ensure we are effectively targeting black-owned business owners and donors. We'd like our website to showcase attractive graphics and have a strong call-to-action. We love our current aesthetic, but want to elevate this look so that it's not generic. Instead we want flavor in the designs.

INSIGHT & STRATEGY

Rebuild the Block is an incredible organization that devotes itself to inclusion and diversity. Through their mission, they provide resources to those in need and truly listen and respond to the black community. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to bring awareness to their work and justice to their mission. Working with them on their brand design has not only been energizing but it’s been encouraging to see them support so many amazing people and causes. In starting first with their creative direction, we narrowed in on creating a brand purpose that was authentic, accountable, community-oriented, empowering, justice-oriented, relational, and transparent. In this way, they aim to serve their primary audience, black-owned business owners, looking for a community liason by supporting their ventures and outreach through incredibly valuable funding. This identity is foundational, diverse, educational, and transparent, and will serve their mission for decades to come, while creating a lasting impact for those they serve.

DEFINING OBJECTIVES & LONG-TERM BRAND STRATEGY

the solution

As we moved into the representation of their brand through strong visual elements, it was decided that we needed to stay closer to the original vision of what a unique, but inspired logo could represent. We worked on developing a strong typography that mimics their strength in work, as well as a logo design that highlights the importance of black-owned businesses in today’s society, as well as a nod to the historical aspect of the weight they’ve carried in our communities for decades. The direct correlation between these individuals carrying the city on their backs and grounded in the roots of their mission, brings stability to their overall vision to uplift others while remaining a down-to-earth organization supporting their audience every step of their journey. Finally, bringing every aspect of this new brand into social media graphics served as a way for them to elevate their mission into a consistent and powerful message across their online platforms for growth, trust, and transparency. I’m absolutely thrilled with all that this particular brand has come to represent in their voice, visuals, and overall social impact. I can’t wait to see them flourish in all that they do and continue supporting incredible causes like theirs as they make such a beautiful and diverse difference in the years to come.
